Sheep
Within our practice team we take a very serious and proactive approach towards all our sheep work. This work includes:
Flock Health Planning and Farm Treatment Protocols This is a farm specific setup with ongoing interaction between the farmer and veterinary surgeon who acts as an advisor.
Abortion investigations.
MV, scrapie and trace element blood sampling
Post mortem investigations.
Ram MOT including semen testing.
Teaser operations (vasectomy).
Skin sampling for ectoparasites, mainly focussed on sheep scab suspicions.
Lameness advice.
Targeted workshops/meetings.
Worming advice, very important with respect to the development of anthelmintic resistance in sheep. We follow SCOPS principles and do our own worm egg counts (FWEC) and can provide wormers from all groups with the appropriate advice.
This is not an exhaustive list so please be advised that we take on any large animal work.
